Baltersan Castle will be a truly unique home-away-from-home for that select group of club members who will have exclusive residency rights for a total of one third of the year (in perpetuity), while the other two-thirds will be leased to a hospitality management company. In addition, the chosen hoteliers will provide all necessary services to the members when they are in residence.
Club members will be shareholders in the company which owns Baltersan Castle and will have the option of renting their chosen weeks to friends or business colleagues or to allow the hotelier to add them to their own availability.
In every case of a group taking up residency, an individual must be nominated as the responsible person for the conduct of the group, effectively becoming for the duration, a Keeper of the Key to Baltersan Castle.
Keys have a powerful symbolism because they represent security and authority. A key has the power to protect property and to grant or deny access. Therefore the key holder must be a reliable and trustworthy person. Traditionally this office was held by a woman, the Chatelaine. At Baltersan, both men and women will have the rare opportunity to be the Keeper of the Key.
It is this spirit of shared responsibility and custodianship that will be the essence of the Baltersan Castle Private Residence Club.
Purchasers of club membership will each receive a 12" (30cm) replica of the Mediæval key (shown above) as a symbol of their right of residence and responsibilities as good custodians of the stately fine house of Baltersan.
In hospitality management?
We are seeking a professional hospitality management company to lease Baltersan Castle and provide a range of hospitality services to club members who will have residency rights to 18 weeks of the year, and to operate the castle for the remaining thirty two weeks. (Two weeks will be reserved for maintenance and public access - the latter a condition of an Historic Scotland Grant.)
